Hello! I’m Alex Chen, a travel enthusiast from China who loves exploring the lesser-known corners of the world. This time, I’m taking you deep into one of South China’s most dynamic cities—Guangzhou. One of its must-visit highlights is Beijing Road Pedestrian Street. This destination buzzes with urban energy and holds more than 2,000 years of history. Whether it’s your first trip to Guangzhou or you’re looking for a place where you can eat, shop, and soak in some local culture all at once, Beijing Road is the perfect choice.

Beijing Road Overview

Beijing Road, also known as Beijing Road Pedestrian Street, marks the historic heart of Guangzhou. It’s the site where the city was first built and has always served as the most bustling commercial area. Stretching approximately 1.4 kilometers, this street has held its position as Guangzhou’s commercial and cultural center for over two millennia. Every traveler coming to Guangzhou makes a stop here—where time-honored Cantonese brands stand side-by-side with modern stores. From must-try local restaurants to famous street snacks, everything is within walking distance. Millennia-Old Road Ruins

One of the most unique features of Beijing Road is the ancient road ruins beneath your feet. Rather than being hidden inside a museum, these relics are embedded directly into the pedestrian walkway, protected and displayed under glass. You can clearly see layered road surfaces from different dynasties, each one revealing a different chapter of Guangzhou’s rich past. This “walking through a thousand years” experience is deeply moving and gives you a true sense of the city’s unbroken history and evolution.
