Zootopia

Step into Zootopia at Shanghai Disneyland and become part of a city designed for animals of every size to live side by side. Beyond the popular Zootopia: Hot Pursuit attraction, the land offers detailed streets, character encounters, themed food, shopping and photo opportunities, making it worth treating as a complete stop in your park itinerary.

About Zootopia at Shanghai Disneyland

Zootopia at Shanghai Disneyland is the world's first fully realized Zootopia-themed land. As you enter along Mane Street, you will pass storefronts, Savanna Central, city billboards, Zootopia Station and the familiar skyline from the movie. Rather than recreating a single scene, the entire area is designed to feel like a working city where animals continue to live their everyday lives.

Some of the most interesting details are the city features created for animals of different sizes. Doors, windows, benches, drinking fountains, traffic lights and store entrances are designed separately for large animals, medium-sized residents and tiny rodents. Even without riding an attraction, taking time to notice these details makes Zootopia feel different from every other themed land at Shanghai Disneyland.

Zootopia: Hot Pursuit is the land's main attraction, but you will also find Disney Zootopia Comes Alive, Jumbeaux's Cafe, Zootopia Market and Fashions by Fru Fru. It is easy to combine the ride, street exploration, character encounters, themed snacks, shopping and photos in a single visit.

Location inside Shanghai Disneyland: Zootopia is located toward the back of the park. Because it takes some time to walk there from the main entrance, it is best to ride Hot Pursuit and complete your sightseeing, dining and shopping during the same visit instead of returning several times throughout the day.

Take Photos Around Zootopia

Daytime is best for capturing architectural details, while the illuminated streets look especially atmospheric from late afternoon into the evening. The land entrance, police station and city skyline are among the easiest places to get memorable photos.

Is Zootopia Suitable for Children?

Zootopia is an excellent themed land for families. Its colorful streets and familiar characters give children plenty to enjoy, even without riding an attraction. They can look for city details, watch the apartment-window interactions, try themed snacks and take photos throughout the land.

Zootopia: Hot Pursuit has a minimum height requirement of 81 cm and includes dark scenes, quick turns and small drops. Most school-age children are likely to find it exciting and fun, although children who are sensitive to darkness, sudden movement or loud sounds may feel nervous during some scenes.

Zootopia is still worth visiting if a child does not meet the height requirement or does not want to ride Hot Pursuit. The land is more than a single attraction—it is a walk-through experience with plenty to discover.

A Good Strategy for First-Time Visitors

Zootopia works best as a complete stop in your park itinerary rather than a place you enter only to ride Hot Pursuit and immediately leave.

Using an Early Park Entry Pass

With an Early Park Entry Pass, head toward Zootopia and prioritize Hot Pursuit first. After the ride, explore Mane Street, take photos and look for themed details while the streets are still relatively comfortable, then continue to nearby lands.

This approach prevents you from having to walk back to Zootopia later in the afternoon for food, shopping or photos.

Without an Early Park Entry Pass

Without Early Entry, base your decision on the current wait for Hot Pursuit:

  • If the wait is manageable, ride first and explore the rest of the land afterward.
  • If the line is very long, explore the streets, have a snack or shop before deciding when to ride.
  • Consider the Single Rider line when your group does not need to sit together.
  • Consider Disney Premier Access when your time in the park is limited.

How Much Time Should You Allow?

  • Hot Pursuit only: Allow for the actual queue time, plus approximately 20–30 minutes to enter the land and experience the attraction.
  • The ride plus a brief look around: Allow approximately 1.5–2 hours.
  • The ride, photos, character interactions, snacks and shopping: Allow approximately 2–2.5 hours.
