Hi, I’m Alex Chen, an independent traveler who loves exploring Chinese cities, theme parks, and local experiences. Universal Beijing Resort’s 2026 fall event, Scares @ Universal, runs from September 4 to November 1. This year’s biggest additions are The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles and Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street, which join A Quiet Place, Universal Monsters Crypt, and The House of Hua Pi to form a lineup of five haunted mazes. The event also features four scare zones, the all-new Underworld Uprising, and the returning Death Eaters™ Takeover.
If you are visiting mainly for the Halloween experiences, there is really no need to arrive first thing in the morning. The five haunted mazes do not open until 5:00 PM, with the queues closing at 10:00 PM on event nights. Based on my visit, the two most popular mazes—The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles and Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street—can actually have some of their longest waits right after opening, while lines may drop significantly later in the evening.
If you have already visited Universal Studios Beijing and have done the major rides before, the 0.5-Day Ticket with entry from 2:00 PM is well worth considering. If this is your first visit and you want to experience both the regular park attractions and Scares @ Universal, a full-day ticket is still the better choice. For all of my planning resources in one place—including tickets, crowd forecasts, themed lands, rides, hotels, and Express options—you can also use the Universal Beijing Resort guide hub.

Universal Beijing Halloween 2026 Overview
Scares @ Universal is Universal Beijing Resort’s limited-time fall event. The 2026 lineup includes five haunted mazes, four scare zones, Underworld Uprising, and the returning Death Eaters™ Takeover inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™.
- Event season: September 4–November 1, 2026
- Halloween nighttime experiences: Not available every day during the event season
- Haunted mazes: 5
- Scare zones: 4
- Haunted maze hours: 5:00 PM–10:00 PM, with queues closing at 10:00 PM
- Reservations required: No online reservation is required
- Separate haunted-maze ticket required: No. Guests with a valid Universal Studios Beijing admission ticket for that day can join the regular queues
- Longest waits: The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles and Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street
- Scariest maze in my experience: The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles
- Visiting mainly for Halloween: Consider the 0.5-Day Ticket with 2:00 PM entry
- Best strategy: Pick three must-do mazes in advance and treat the other two as flexible additions based on live wait times
- Age guidance: The haunted mazes are not recommended for children under 13. Guests under 16 must be accompanied by an adult
Regular entertainment schedules may also change during the Halloween season, so I recommend checking the Universal Beijing Resort Official App again shortly before your visit.
Scares @ Universal 2026 Dates
Although the overall event season runs from September 4 through November 1, 2026, the haunted mazes and main nighttime Halloween experiences are not offered every night.
The 2026 event dates are:
September
- September 4, 5, 6, 7
- September 10, 11, 12, 13, 14
- September 16
- September 18, 19, 20, 21
- September 24, 25, 26, 27, 28
- September 30
October
- October 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
- October 9, 10, 11, 12
- October 15, 16, 17, 18, 19
- October 22, 23, 24, 25, 26
- October 28, 29, 30, 31
November
- November 1

If your travel dates are flexible, I strongly recommend checking the Universal Beijing Resort crowd forecast before buying your ticket. Halloween weekends, China’s National Day holiday period, and dates closer to October 31 can feel very different from a regular weekday, so choosing the right event date can make a major difference to haunted-maze wait times.
Universal Beijing Halloween 2026 Map
The five haunted mazes, four scare zones, and nighttime entertainment are spread across different parts of the park. Before you start your Halloween itinerary, open the Universal Beijing Resort Official App and check the event map as well as the current wait times.

If you only have half a day, I do not recommend following a fixed clockwise or counterclockwise route around the park. The most efficient Halloween strategy is to follow the live wait times instead of forcing yourself to stick to a fixed route. This is especially important for The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles and Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street, because their waits can fluctuate dramatically during the evening. If one suddenly drops, it can be worth changing your plans immediately.
Universal Beijing Halloween 2026 Tickets
Full-Day Ticket or 0.5-Day Ticket?
Scares @ Universal is not a separately ticketed nighttime event. If you have a valid Universal Studios Beijing admission ticket for an event date, you can queue for the five haunted mazes without buying an additional haunted-maze ticket or making an advance reservation.
If this is your first visit to Universal Studios Beijing and you want to experience both the park’s major rides and Scares @ Universal, I recommend a regular full-day ticket. My complete Universal Studios Beijing guide covers the regular attractions, themed lands, transportation, food, and general park-planning basics, while this guide focuses specifically on the 2026 Halloween event. You can also compare current prices and booking options in my Universal Beijing Resort tickets guide.
If you have already visited the park and are coming back mainly for Scares @ Universal, I would seriously consider the 0.5-Day Ticket instead.
The 2026 0.5-Day Ticket allows entry from 2:00 PM. Since the haunted mazes do not open until 5:00 PM, you still have about three hours to ride a few regular attractions, eat, take photos, shop for limited-edition merchandise, or get Face Painting before the main Halloween portion of your visit begins.
0.5-Day Ticket
- Entry time: From 2:00 PM
- Includes: 0.5-Day Ticket plus several discount coupons
- Adult price: Approximately 271.7–446.6 CNY
- Most useful coupon: 10% off Face Painting
- Regular Face Painting price: Approximately 58–158 CNY
- Painting time: Usually under 5 minutes
If you are not particularly interested in limited-edition merchandise, this is the option I would choose. You can save the extra money for food or Halloween Universal Express.
0.5-Day Ticket + Identity V Themed Tote Bag Redemption Package
- Includes: 0.5-Day Ticket
- Limited-edition item: Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street themed collaboration tote bag redemption voucher
- Also includes: Several event discount coupons
- Adult price: Approximately 391.45–530.6 CNY
This package makes more sense for Identity V fans who already want the themed merchandise.
0.5-Day Ticket + The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles Character Badge Set Redemption Package
- Includes: 0.5-Day Ticket
- Limited-edition item: The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles character badge set redemption voucher
- Also includes: Several event discount coupons
- Adult price: Approximately 295.7–470.6 CNY
If you are a fan of The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles, the price difference over the standard 0.5-Day Ticket is relatively modest, so this package is worth considering.
My recommendation is simple: choose a full-day ticket for your first visit to Universal Studios Beijing, and consider the 0.5-Day Ticket if you have already experienced the main rides and are returning primarily for Halloween. The 0.5-Day Ticket also works well if you want to fit in a few regular attractions after 2:00 PM, while a full-day ticket is better if you want plenty of time for all seven themed lands and the park’s regular attractions. If haunted mazes, scare zones, and the nighttime atmosphere are your main priorities, there is little reason to arrive early in the morning.
Scares @ Universal 2026 Universal Express
For Halloween nights, the biggest time drain is not necessarily the regular rides. It is the wait for the most popular haunted mazes.
During my visit, The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles and Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street clearly had the heaviest demand. Both could exceed 80 minutes, and I saw The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles reach approximately 165 minutes.
Which Scares @ Universal Express Option Should You Buy?
There are three main Halloween-specific Universal Express options in 2026: a 5-attraction option, 3-attraction option, and single-attraction option.
5-Attraction Scares @ Universal Universal Express
- Includes: One-time Universal Express access to all five haunted mazes
- Price: Approximately 680–800 CNY per person
- Best for: Guests with only one evening, a larger budget, and a strong desire to experience all five mazes
This is the easiest option, particularly if you want Universal Express for both The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles and Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street, because the 3-attraction option does not allow you to select both of them.
3-Attraction Scares @ Universal Universal Express
- Price: Approximately 420–460 CNY per person
- Includes: Universal Express access to 3 haunted mazes
- My rating: ★★★★★
There is one very important restriction: you are not simply choosing any three out of five.
You must choose one of the following two:
- The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles
- Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street
You then choose two of the following three:
- A Quiet Place
- The House of Hua Pi
- Universal Monsters Crypt
In other words, you cannot choose both The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles and Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street with the 3-attraction package. That matters because these are also the two mazes most likely to have extreme waits.
Unless you are a serious Identity V fan, my first choice from the first group would be The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles. It was the scariest and most impressive maze I experienced, and it also had some of the longest lines.
From the other three, I would personally prioritize The House of Hua Pi + Universal Monsters Crypt. If you are a big fan of A Quiet Place, you could replace Universal Monsters Crypt with A Quiet Place.
My preferred 3-attraction combination would therefore be The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles + The House of Hua Pi + Universal Monsters Crypt. For an Identity V fan, I would choose Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street + The House of Hua Pi + Universal Monsters Crypt.
If your main goal is to skip the regular queues for both The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles and Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street, the 5-attraction option makes more sense.
Single-Attraction Scares @ Universal Universal Express
- Includes: Universal Express access to one of the five haunted mazes
- Price: Approximately 200 CNY per person
- Purchase timing: Available for same-day purchase only
- My rating: ★★☆☆☆
I would not build my entire Halloween plan around this option. The problem is not the product itself; the problem is availability. You can only buy it on the day of your visit, and there is no guarantee that the maze you want will still be available.
If you arrive and see The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles or Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street sitting at an extremely long wait, and a single-attraction Universal Express is still available, buying one on the spot can make sense. I just would not assume in advance that you will definitely be able to buy one later.
The Halloween-specific Express products above are mainly useful for the five haunted mazes. If you also want to skip lines for regular rides during the daytime, my Universal Beijing Express and Early Entry guide explains the regular Universal Express options, Early Park Entry, and when each option is worth buying.
5 Haunted Mazes at Scares @ Universal 2026
The five official haunted mazes for 2026 are:
- The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles
- Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street
- The House of Hua Pi
- Universal Monsters Crypt
- A Quiet Place
The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles, Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street, and A Quiet Place are new to the 2026 lineup, while The House of Hua Pi and Universal Monsters Crypt return from previous years.
The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles

- Scare rating: ★★★★★
- Recommendation: ★★★★★
- Experience time: About 8 minutes
- Queue pressure: ★★★★★
In 2026, Universal Beijing Resort brought The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles to life as a haunted maze for the first time. The story draws on locations such as the Seven Star Lu Palace and the undersea tomb, with characters including Wu Xie and Zhang Qiling appearing during the experience.
This was, in my opinion, the scariest and best haunted maze of the five this year.
The corridors are relatively narrow, and you will encounter creatures and characters familiar to fans of the franchise, including blood corpses, Jinpo, sea monkeys, and the blue-eyed fox corpse. There are a lot of close-range scares, and the costumes and sets are extremely convincing.
Some performers do not simply appear from doors or around corners. They can come from places you are not watching at all, including above you.
The sets are also impressively detailed. The tomb environments, dark passageways, and tight spaces create a strong sense of pressure throughout the maze.
If you are already a fan of The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles, the familiarity with the characters and creatures may make it feel slightly less frightening. If you know nothing about the IP, every creature is more unpredictable.
The live performers portraying Wu Xie and Zhang Qiling are another highlight.
If I could experience only one maze in 2026, I would choose The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles. Its biggest downside is the line. I saw the posted wait reach approximately 165 minutes, so if you are buying either the 5-attraction or 3-attraction Universal Express option, this is the maze I would prioritize.
Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street

- Scare rating: ★★★★☆
- Recommendation: ★★★★★
- Queue pressure: ★★★★★
This is the other major new maze drawing huge crowds in 2026.
The experience takes place inside the asylum at the end of White Sand Street. Instead of simply walking through scenes, guests also take part in a light escape-game mechanic: you need to remember numbers you encounter along the way and eventually identify the correct exit.
If you are an Identity V player, I would classify this as a must-do.
The asylum sets are very convincing, the major characters shown in the promotional material are represented inside, and the performers were excellent during my visit.
Compared with The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles, there are fewer performers suddenly rushing into your face, so I found the actual scare level noticeably lower than the length of the queue might suggest.
What makes it different is the gameplay. It feels more like a light escape-room experience than a standard walk-through haunted maze.
On the day I visited, guests who exited through the correct route received a fluorescent stamp from a team member. That stamp could then be used at the exit to receive an in-game item redemption card.
That type of reward can change depending on the day and operating arrangements, so treat it as a bonus rather than something guaranteed.
If you already play Identity V, I would effectively subtract a point from the scare rating and add one to the recommendation rating.
The House of Hua Pi

- Scare rating: ★★★★★
- Recommendation: ★★★★☆
- Best for: Chinese-style horror
The House of Hua Pi is built around a distinctly Chinese horror aesthetic, with gray-brick courtyards, dark alleyways, traditional architecture, and eerie interior spaces.
If you enjoy Chinese horror, this is an excellent choice. For me, it was the second-scariest maze after The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles.
Compared with The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles, the interior feels somewhat more open and there are fewer constant close-range jump scares. However, the combination of traditional architecture, dim lighting, sound design, and character makeup creates plenty of psychological tension on its own.
It is a returning maze, so I would give it high priority if you have never experienced it before. If you already did it last year, prioritize this year’s new mazes first and come back if the wait is short.
Universal Monsters Crypt

- Scare rating: ★★★☆☆
- Recommendation: ★★★☆☆
- Best for: Classic Universal Monsters and cinematic atmosphere
Universal Monsters Crypt brings together classic Universal Monsters including Dracula, Frankenstein, The Phantom, Wolfman, and The Mummy.
Rather than being extremely frightening, this maze felt more like stepping into a classic Universal Monsters movie.
The vampires, mummies, werewolves, and other characters are performed with a lot of energy. For me, the main appeal was the characters and cinematic atmosphere rather than relentless jump scares.
This is another returning maze. If you already experienced it last year and only have a few hours this year, I would rank it below The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles, Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street, and The House of Hua Pi.
On the other hand, if you are not great with horror but still want a full haunted-maze experience, Universal Monsters Crypt is a very good middle ground.
A Quiet Place

- Scare rating: ★★☆☆☆
- Recommendation: ★★☆☆☆
- Best for: Guests who are nervous about haunted houses
A Quiet Place follows the most recognizable rule from the movie: do not make a sound.
Once inside, many of the performers use the familiar “shh” gesture. Their facial expressions and body language create a strong atmosphere, but there are fewer aggressive close-range scares than in the other mazes.
Of the five, this was the least scary for me.
If you are very nervous about haunted houses or hate jump scares, this is one of the better places to start. If you only have time for three mazes, it would be one of my first cuts, unless you are a big A Quiet Place fan—in that case, move it much higher on your list.
Which Haunted Mazes Should You Prioritize?
If you only have one evening, I do not recommend making “I must finish all five” your main goal.
You only have about five hours between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM, and that time also includes walking, eating, and waiting. A single popular maze can easily consume more than an hour, so the safer strategy is to choose three must-do mazes and treat the other two as flexible additions.
For a first-time visitor to Scares @ Universal 2026, my personal ranking is:
- The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles
- Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street
- The House of Hua Pi
- Universal Monsters Crypt
- A Quiet Place
If you are easily scared, I would start with A Quiet Place, followed by Universal Monsters Crypt, then Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street.
If you attended last year, prioritize the new 2026 lineup: The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles, Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street, and A Quiet Place. The House of Hua Pi and Universal Monsters Crypt can then be flexible additions based on wait times.
If you are a fan of one of the IPs, ignore my ranking. Fans of The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles should put it first, while Identity V players should put Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street first.
Scare Zones, Underworld Uprising & Death Eaters™ Takeover
In addition to the five haunted mazes, the park features four Scare Zones:
- Scare Zone: Mel’s Die In
- Scare Zone: M3GAN
- Scare Zone: Kill Cute Party
- Scare Zone: Underworld
Scare Zone: Mel’s Die In transforms the area around Mel’s Diner into a post-apocalyptic setting, with zombie-like characters and performers appearing throughout the street.
Scare Zone: M3GAN brings M3GAN out onto the streets, with character interactions and her highly recognizable dance routine.
Scare Zone: Kill Cute Party features characters including Emo Tu, Foxy Lady, and HamiKuma around the Majestic Theater area. Compared with a traditional horror zone, this one has more of a Halloween party and photo-op atmosphere.
Scare Zone: Underworld is the new Underworld-themed scare zone for 2026, and the event also includes the nighttime performance Underworld Uprising.

Inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™, the returning nighttime experience is Death Eaters™ Takeover. During Scares @ Universal, Death Eaters™ appear throughout Hogsmeade™, giving the entire Harry Potter area a much darker atmosphere after sunset and making it worth returning even if you already explored the land during the day.

My advice is simple: prioritize the haunted mazes and fit the scare zones and shows into the gaps between them. As you walk along the main park pathways at night, you will naturally pass through scare zones and encounter performers, so I would not sacrifice a huge amount of haunted-maze time just to see every street interaction.
If close-up scare-actor interactions make you uncomfortable, you do not have to avoid the entire Halloween event. Official maps identify both scare zones and non-scare zones, so you can use the non-scare areas when you want a break.
Best Universal Beijing Halloween 2026 Itinerary
After doing the event myself, one thing became very clear: you do not need to start your day at opening just because you are visiting for Halloween.
I left at 8:15 AM, reached the entrance at around 9:15 AM, waited for entry, and rushed toward the rides as soon as guests were let in. In hindsight, it was unnecessary.
Regular attraction waits were particularly heavy around roughly 10:00–11:00 AM during my visit and eased later. The two blockbuster haunted mazes also attracted a huge first wave of guests as soon as they opened at 5:00 PM.
A better overall strategy is to avoid the worst regular-ride peak and not automatically join the biggest haunted-maze lines the moment they open.
Full-Day Ticket Itinerary
Morning to 2:00 PM
If this is your first time at Universal Studios Beijing, use the daytime hours for the major rides. During my visit, I managed to experience Transformers: Battle for the AllSpark, Jurassic World Adventure, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™, and Despicable Me Minion Mayhem before shifting my focus to the Halloween experiences later in the day.
I also spent about an hour eating at Hammond’s. From what I observed, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™ often carried a wait roughly 15–20 minutes longer than several of the other major rides, so there is no need to follow a rigid attraction order. Open the Universal Beijing Resort Official App and simply prioritize whichever major attraction has the shortest wait.
2:00–4:30 PM
Use this period for lunch or an early dinner, Face Painting, Halloween merchandise, regular attractions with shorter waits, checking the locations of the haunted mazes, and seeing whether Universal Express is still available.
5:00–7:00 PM
Do not automatically run to The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles or Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street just because the haunted mazes have opened.
I originally went over around 3:30 PM to get into position early. The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles already had a huge crowd, so I switched to Identity V. Once the mazes officially opened at 5:00 PM, both immediately absorbed a huge wave of guests, and I saw waits reach around 120 minutes or more.
If the app is already showing that kind of wait, spend the time on regular rides, food, another haunted maze, scare zones, or Underworld Uprising instead.
7:00–9:00 PM
This was the most comfortable haunted-maze period during my visit. After around 7:00 PM, the three less popular mazes were often around 30 minutes, it became possible to complete multiple mazes back-to-back, and I even had enough time to repeat a regular attraction.
The key is to avoid letting one blockbuster maze consume your entire evening and knock out the shorter waits first.
9:00–10:00 PM
Check The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles and Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street again.
On my night, Identity V dropped below an hour at one point after 7:00 PM, The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles fell to around 45 minutes after 9:00 PM, and some of the other mazes dropped to approximately 20 minutes.
I joined The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles at around 9:00 PM and finished at roughly 9:40 PM. I spent a few more minutes enjoying the scare zones and left the park at around 9:45 PM.
However, this was one night of real-world observation. It does not mean the exact same wait-time pattern will happen every day. Weekends, China’s National Day holiday, and dates closer to Halloween can behave very differently. Keep checking the Official App, and if one of the big mazes suddenly drops, change your plan and go.
0.5-Day Ticket Itinerary
If you have already visited Universal Studios Beijing, I think the 0.5-Day Ticket is one of the best ways to experience Scares @ Universal 2026.
2:00 PM — Enter the park
Start with one or two regular attractions, Face Painting, food, or limited-edition merchandise.
4:30–5:00 PM
Check the live wait times in the official app. There is no need to spend an hour or more waiting outside The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles or Identity V before they even begin operating.
5:00–7:00 PM
If both blockbuster mazes immediately jump to 100–120 minutes or more, skip them for now. Use the time for regular rides, food, scare zones, or a shorter haunted-maze queue.
On the night I visited, several major regular attractions actually fell to around 30 minutes after 5:00 PM as more guests shifted their attention to the Halloween experiences.
7:00–9:00 PM
Concentrate on the haunted mazes. Watch The House of Hua Pi, Universal Monsters Crypt, and A Quiet Place, and simply choose whichever has the shortest wait at the time.
After 9:00 PM
Check The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles and Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street again. If one drops significantly, go immediately, then use any remaining time for scare zones, photos, or Death Eaters™ Takeover.
How to Beat the Lines at Scares @ Universal
The most useful Halloween strategy is not memorizing one perfect route. It is understanding how the queues behave.
- Do not assume you must run to The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles at 5:00 PM. When the mazes first open, a huge number of guests have exactly the same idea, creating an early rush.
- Choose three must-do mazes before you arrive. Five hours also includes eating, walking, and waiting. Completing all five should not become a stressful checklist.
- The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles and Identity V are the two mazes you need to watch most closely. Remember that the 3-attraction Universal Express option only lets you choose one of them.
- Live wait times matter more than any fixed itinerary. If a blockbuster maze suddenly falls from 120 minutes to 50–60 minutes, change your plan.
- Do not give up too early in the evening. On my visit, there were noticeable wait-time drops after both 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
- Regular rides can be surprisingly attractive after 5:00 PM. As guests shift toward the Halloween experiences, some normal attractions can become much easier to ride.
- 10:00 PM is the queue cutoff, not necessarily the time every guest must already be out of the maze.
Based on my visit, guests who had already entered the queue before team members closed it were generally allowed to finish the experience. That does not mean I recommend intentionally showing up at the final minute, because attraction issues, crowd control, or operational changes can still cause a queue to close earlier than expected.
Scares @ Universal Merchandise & Face Painting
In addition to the haunted mazes, Universal Beijing Resort has released a wide range of limited-edition merchandise tied to the 2026 event.
Items include:
- The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles themed merchandise
- The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles character badge set
- Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street themed merchandise
- Character plush charms
- Blind-box badges
- Character headbands
- Kill Cute Party merchandise

Scares @ Universal Face Painting is also available. Prices I saw during my visit were approximately 58–158 CNY, and the painting process usually took under 5 minutes.
The standard 0.5-Day Ticket package includes a 10% off Face Painting coupon, so remember to use it if you are planning to get painted anyway.
Scares @ Universal Age, Costume & Safety Rules
The five haunted mazes and other nighttime experiences can include low lighting, sudden movements, loud sounds, disturbing imagery, special effects, and close interactions with performers.
Important rules include:
- Haunted mazes are not recommended for children under 13
- Guests under 16 must be accompanied by an adult
- Do not chase, touch, verbally abuse, or intentionally startle performers
- Do not touch show effects, sets, props, or decorations
- Do not carry items that could be used as a weapon
- Costumed guests must follow the Scares @ Universal Costume Guidelines
- Flash photography, videography with bright lights, and other bright-light devices are prohibited
Outdoor scare zones and performances may also be changed or temporarily canceled because of rain, low temperatures, snow, or other operating conditions.
If you are nervous about scare actors, you do not have to spend the entire evening in high-intensity scare areas. Official event maps identify scare zones and non-scare zones, allowing you to take a less intense route when needed.
Where to Stay for Universal Beijing Halloween
If Scares @ Universal is the main reason for your visit, staying near the park can be much more comfortable than traveling all the way back to central Beijing after a late finish. This is especially useful if you plan to stay until around 10:00 PM, spend a full day in the park, return to Universal Studios Beijing the next morning, or are traveling with children or a larger group.
My Universal Beijing Resort hotels guide compares the official resort hotels with more affordable options nearby, so I would not repeat a full hotel list in this Halloween guide.
Universal Beijing Halloween 2026 FAQ
Yes. A valid Universal Studios Beijing admission ticket for an event date lets you join the queues for all five haunted mazes, and you do not need to buy a separate haunted-maze ticket.
No. The haunted mazes do not require online reservations, so you can simply join the queue at each attraction on the day of your visit.
The five haunted mazes operate from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM on event nights, with queues closing at 10:00 PM.
If you have already visited Universal Studios Beijing and are mainly coming for Halloween, the 0.5-Day Ticket is usually enough and is the option I recommend. You can enter at 2:00 PM, giving you around three hours before the haunted mazes open to ride regular attractions, eat, get Face Painting, or shop for limited-edition merchandise. If this is your first visit to the park, I still recommend a full-day ticket.
Based on my experience, The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles is the scariest haunted maze at Scares @ Universal 2026. I give it 5/5 for scares, with The House of Hua Pi in second place.
The two mazes with the heaviest demand are The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles and Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street. During my visit, both exceeded 80 minutes, and I saw The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles reach approximately 165 minutes at one point.
If you only have one evening and definitely want to experience several haunted mazes, I think Universal Express can be worth the extra cost. The 3-attraction option offers a good balance between price and time savings, but you must choose between The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles and Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street, so if you want Universal Express for both of the most popular mazes, the 5-attraction option is the better choice.
Unless you are a major Identity V fan, my preferred combination is The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles + The House of Hua Pi + Universal Monsters Crypt. If you are an Identity V fan, I would choose Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street + The House of Hua Pi + Universal Monsters Crypt instead. If you are a big A Quiet Place fan or prefer a less intense maze, you can replace Universal Monsters Crypt with A Quiet Place.
Yes, but I would not make completing all five your default goal. Without Universal Express, whether you can finish everything depends heavily on the crowd level and how efficiently you move around the park, so a safer strategy is to choose three must-do mazes and treat the other two as flexible extras based on live wait times.
Not necessarily. On my visit, The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles and Identity V–Escape from White Sand Street attracted a huge first wave of guests as soon as they opened, so if the Official App is already showing waits of 100–120 minutes or more, it can be better to do another maze, ride a regular attraction, eat, or visit a scare zone and check again later.
10:00 PM is the posted queue cutoff. Based on my visit, guests who had already entered the queue before team members closed it were generally allowed to continue and complete the experience, but attraction breakdowns, crowd-control measures, or other operating changes can still affect the queue, so I would not intentionally wait until the final minute.
Yes. If you are nervous about haunted houses, start with A Quiet Place or Universal Monsters Crypt, which I found less intense than the other mazes. Around the park, you can also avoid the main scare zones and use designated non-scare zones when you want a break.
