Hi, I’m Alex Chen, a Chinese budget traveler who loves independent travel and finding smarter ways to explore China for less. Over the years, I’ve spent a lot of time figuring out how to travel around China more easily and cheaply, from metro systems and mobile payments to airport transfers and local transportation. In this Tianjin Binhai International Airport guide, I’ll share my own travel experience to help you quickly understand how to get from Tianjin Airport to downtown Tianjin, airport facilities, overnight stays, tax refunds, and a few practical tips to avoid common tourist mistakes. This guide is especially useful if it’s your first time visiting Tianjin or traveling independently in China.

4 Best Ways to Get from Tianjin Binhai International Airport to Downtown Tianjin

I highly recommend taking the metro first. Tianjin Airport sits fairly close to the city center, so the metro usually doesn’t take much longer than a taxi, and it costs far less. If you arrive late at night, the airport shuttle bus works better. If you decide to take a car, I strongly suggest using a ride-hailing app instead of regular taxis. Taxi experiences in Tianjin can feel inconsistent, and some drivers may take longer routes or add extra charges. For the exact same trip from Tianjin Airport to downtown, a taxi can sometimes cost almost double the price of a ride-hailing car.
