Fuzhou is strategically located on the eastern coast of Fujian province, facing Taiwan across the Taiwan Strait. It is bordered by Ningde to the north, Quanzhou to the south, and Nanping to the west. This positioning makes Fuzhou a crucial gateway to southeastern China.
Fuzhou governs 13 administrative districts, including six urban districts—Gulou, Taijiang, Cangshan, Jin’an, Mawei, Changle—and six counties—Minhou, Lianjiang, Luoyuan, Minqing, Yongtai, Pingtan—as well as one county-level city, Fuqing. Each area brings its unique contributions to the city’s overall makeup and functions.
